Terms & Conditions

This document sets out the terms and conditions of RooChess-OCT2021 - Online Chess Tournament.

RoosTalks is glad to organize this online chess tournament with the intention of connecting friends and families for a recreational sports activity and to promote the game of chess amongst the youths, while fostering social responsibility.

The RooChess-OCT2021 online chess tournament is organized to support Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation.

Registration closes on 30 SEP 2021 at 11.59 pm

RooChess Junior Champions Saturday 02 October at 11 am (AEST)

RooChess Champions Saturday 02 October at 6 pm (AEST)

RooChess Application is closed.

1. TERMS

  1. No assistance from other sources should be sought during the tournament.
  2. The tournament time will be decided based on preferred time indicated by the majority of the applicants.
  3. Game will be scheduled at 'AEST" (Sydney).
  4. RoosTalks does not hold responsibility for the ramifications from either winning or losing any of the games (anxiety, etc).
  5. RoosTalks does not hold any responsibilities for any system failures, access issues or and other difficulties in the support platform during the tournament.
  6. RoosTalks shall use the winner's details to promote the future chess events.
  7. All personal details shared with RoosTalks shall be treated confidentially.
  8. RoosTalks reserves the rights to change terms of tournament and make decisions related to this tournament.
  9. Intention of this tournament is to connect friends and families for a recreational sports activity and to promote the game of chess amongst the youths, while fostering social responsibility.

2. TOURNAMENT

  1. This tournament is limited to players living in Australia.
  2. Number of tournaments will be decided by RoosTalks depending on the number of participants enrolled and their age groups.
  3. Tournament will be conducted on [https://lichess.org] platform and each player should have a user account to join the tournament. This account can be created free of charge.
  4. RoosTalks will assign the player to the appropriate tournament, based on their age group and/or skill levels.
  5. Tournament duration will be 90 minutes and clock initial time will be 15 minutes.
  6. The tournament will start on scheduled time.
  7. Game pairing will be automatically picked by the platform.
  8. Tournaments will be in an Arena format.
  9. Win, loss and draw decisions are determined by the platform.
  10. All game results will be recorded and the leaderboard is based on a points system.
  11. 1st, 2nd and 3rd places are decided based on the leaderboard.
  12. Total prize is valued at AUD 140.00 for each tournament.
  13. Prize AUD 80.00, 40.00, 20.00 for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd places respectively.
  14. Prize monies will be sent via electronic gift card to the nominated email address.

3. HOW TO REGISTER

  1. The tournament entry fee AUD 5.00 should be donated to Tiltify.
  2. Confirmation of donation should be forwarded to roostalks. Only forward email with the subject 'Your donation to RoosTalksOCT was completed.', and please don’t forward the email which is the receipt for the donation.
  3. The application form should be submitted.
  4. Access details for the tournament will be emailed to the players via email on 1st Oct 2021.
  5. Registration closes on 30 SEP 2021 at 11.59 pm
